The seed beads in this necklace are very old. They have been re-strung on new strands, giving them a new life for the next round of use! The beads are glass and made up in the traditional style worn by Kuchi women. The “clasp” is a bead which buttons on to a thread. These necklaces have multi-colored beads, combining into an earthy look. We have several necklaces that are of similar color, but the cords are different colors. There is a velvet brown and an olive green. If that is important to you, please ask about availability before purchasing. Approximate Dimensions: 21″ long. 53 cm. _____________ Afghan Tribal Arts specializes in handcut, unpolished beads from Afghanistan and the region. Working with artisans directly in the Peshawar region, your purchase helps support small workshops who work in traditions established over centuries in the Silk Road. Afghanistan has great wealth in its natural resources, including an endless variety of semi-precious stones. Unpolished stones take in the oils of the skin with wear and develop a deep patina over time.
