Jannelle Olmstead’s sturdy wearable art tapestry and canvas shoulder bags and pockets, fur trimmed cloaklets, lace Collars and Fancy Crowns are all designed to add that delightful extra accent to any attire. They are her own copyright designs for Something Else Studio, inspired by historical medieval and renaissance items, yet given to her interpretation and imagination.
“After designing renaissance wedding gowns for several years, I decided to go all in and join the festival circuit. I started with our small portable booth and criss-crossed the N.E. doing weekend renaissance festivals, Celtic festivals and faerie festivals until we put down roots at The Maryland Renaissance Festival in Crownsville, Maryland (USA). It was a great place to create themed designs bridging history and imagination. We retired from it in 2017.
I love rich jewel tone fabrics, tapestry, sparkling beads and colorful surrounds filled with dedicated artisans and patrons that bring our village to life each season. My husband makes wooden accessories and chests which I paint.”
