Lord of the Flies

Description

Lord of the Flies is another painting from Kings and Queens series that Elena Nahum Leroy created in 2022.

This painting represents the war that Putin started on February 24, 2022. Putin’s eyes are hidden with the pig mask, showing that he has no soul. Pig’s head idea is borrowed from Golding’s Lord of the Flies novel and represent innocent deaths caused by savage concepts of sacrifice to imaginary Lord of the Flies that stands for unreasonable fears.

nBackground is collaged with prints from Bosch’s paintings, depicting sufferings, sins and all the darkness of the humans’ souls. It also shows that every crime will be paid off and find satisfaction.

nThe button shirt of Putin is pink-purple, colour assigned to manipulative pop culture by Yuri Shevchuk, Russian rock musician in his song Popsa.
