I have been a passionate knitter for nearly 30 years, and yarn and needles continue to be my constant companions. But I am also a frustrated, wanna-be weaver, which is why I love linen stitch so much. Most of my scarves, wraps, and shawls are worked in linen stitch, a slip stitch knitting technique that produces a fabric similar in appearance to woven cloth. Elegant and understated when worked in a solid color, linen stitch lends itself beautifully to color work: whether using tonal or variegated yarns, it is a great way to subtly blend or bend colors, or to work very different colors for maximum contrast. The possibilities are endless, and I am eager to explore as many as possible!
Most of my scarves, wraps, and shawls are worked in fine-weight wool or wool blends, including merino wool, silk, mohair, and alpaca, and sometimes cotton, linen, or hemp for warmer seasons and climates. I make traditional flat scarves, often fringed, and infinity scarves. Both can be worn in many ways, and are equally suited to wearing outside with coats and jackets, or to providing a pop of warmth and color indoors with any outfit. And all my accessory knits make beautiful backdrops for pins, shawl pins, or brooches.
