I started these recycled art assemblage pieces for my first art show in July 2011. Little did I know that they soon would be taking over my dreams and my every waking thought. I have a constant “buzz” in my head trying to come up with new ideas. (Maybe that’s why I make so many bug collages?) Sometimes I sketch my ideas out just to clear my head or I sit down at my table and start putting pieces together.
I’m a self- taught artist. I’ve worked in many different mediums; water colors, oil and acrylic paints, pastels, pen & ink, pencil drawings and paper. I always thought I would be a painter but since I started making these pieces I feel like this is what I’m meant to do. The creative process in assembling these pieces comes very natural to me.
My inspiration comes from all around me but I think I’m mostly influenced by the recycled materials I use. A shape, color or some rusty metal can spur all kinds of creative ideas.
Art has been a part of my life from a very early age and I feel truly blessed to have it as a part of my everyday life!
