Mariann Johansen-Ellis Goat, Sheep and Cow Etchings
Mariann Johansen Ellis creates etchings, linocuts and pillows in her home studio in Denmark. These goat, sheep and cow etchings show some of her farm animals.
I have been working full time as a printmaker first and painter second for the last 25 years.
I started out making craft things in wood, and progressed to printmaking, which has turned out to be my medium and the big love of my life!
I run my own printmaking studio where I not only produce my own work, but also give printmaking courses.
I love making small etchings and big linocuts, and often start an idea, by first making a small etching, that then becomes the seed for a larger linocut.
To my etchings I add aquatint, a complicated and very old fashioned process that for me just makes the etching come alive with all the different tones!
This series shows some of the farm animals I have done. But, I have many different interests, reflected in my designs. I have three shops on Etsy: one for the etchings, another for linocuts and a third for pillows that I make, also printed.
