Lavender Blue Handwoven Tussah Silk Shawl
The shawl is hand woven in a fair trade village in India. The weaver incorporated inlaid linear designs throughout the shawl. I dyed the lavender hue with logwood and cochineal mixed in the same pot. The blue pattern is created by shibori clamping and dyeing it in an indigo vat. Washable, colorfast.

The blue pattern on this lavender tussah silk shawl is created by the shibori clamp technique. The silk fabric is pleated and clamped with various objects before being dyed in the indigo pot. Prior to the clamping, the silk shawl was dyed with a mix of logwood and cochineal natural dyes. Hand woven in a small fair trade village in India, the weaver has incorporated a random linear design. Silk is inlaid into the weft on the loom, creating a raised line on the fabric. After dyeing the shawl was neutralized in a vinegar bath and washed three times. Very easy to care, can be machine washed on delicate cycle. Colorfast. Hang to dry, and iron if desired. The more it is washed, the softer the silk shawl becomes. The dye is colorfast. Lightweight, travel friendly, and great for the autumn, winter and holidays. Dimensions: 76″ Long, 24″ Wide 100% Tussah Silk
