Large Red and White Striped Bowl, Hand Blown

This is a hand blown closed bowl. The top half of the bowl consists of two colors: transparent red and opaque white with the red being the base color with the white being applied over the red via overlay. The bottom half of the bowl consists of an opaque white overlay over a clear and colorless base. Its dimensions are: 4.75″ height; 1.75″ wide at the mouth; 5.5″ wide at the shoulder (widest part of the bowl); and 3″ wide at the base. Please be aware that any extraneous marks in the pictures (white or otherwise) may be due to light refections, shadows, and/or dust particles and therefore may NOT be a part of the glass itself.

I create unique hand-blown glass vessels and artwork from molten glass and want to share them with you! In 2009, after having had obtained both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in molecular biology and after having worked in the field (with DNA) for 18+ years, I decided to take up glass blowing.
I was attracted to the art of glass blowing and to the beautifully colored things that one could make. I started taking classes and private lessons with private instructors and eventually was able to create glass vessels such as bowls, vases, and cups in various colors and designs as well as beautiful glass art starting from molten glass that is kept at 2100 degrees F. As a result, I amassed a fairly large collection of over 180 pieces of glass.
So I decided to share them with the public by selling them. I opened up “Elliott Glass Art” which is an online business. I have a personal web site that you are welcome to visit, a Facebook page and this Etsy shop that I have created.
So as not to totally forget my previous career in molecular biology, I will be undertaking an effort to construct the DNA molecule in glass, and specifically a gene that I sequenced in my previous career. Of course, I will continue to make vessels of bigger and more elaborate quality, and I want very much, to share them all with you.
