This bowl is a beautiful work of art. It is a hand blown closed bowl or vase. It is a very unique bowl. It has stars in red, cobalt blue, and black embedded in the glass surrounding the bowl. The stars are made from Murrine glass chips ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murrine ). The Murrine chips were melted into the bowl by heating them into the glass while forming the bowl. Many of the stars are noticeably distorted, especially towards the bottom of the bowl, but this is due to the curvature of the bowl. It gives the bowl its uniqueness which is part of the charm of blown glass art. It also contains some embedded air bubbles too which is a by product of bubbles being trapped in the molten glass as well as the blowing process itself. This item can also be used as a vase in addition to a bowl. Unique. Unique. Unique. Its dimensions are: 5.5″ in height; 2″ wide at the mouth; 6” wide at the shoulder (the widest part of the bowl); and 2.5″ wide at the base. Note: Please be aware that any extraneous marks in the pictures (white or otherwise) may be due to light reflections, shadows, and/or possibly dust particles and may NOT necessarily be a part of the glass itself.

I create unique hand-blown glass vessels and artwork from molten glass and want to share them with you! In 2009, after having had obtained both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in molecular biology and after having worked in the field (with DNA) for 18+ years, I decided to take up glass blowing.
I was attracted to the art of glass blowing and to the beautifully colored things that one could make. I started taking classes and private lessons with private instructors and eventually was able to create glass vessels such as bowls, vases, and cups in various colors and designs as well as beautiful glass art starting from molten glass that is kept at 2100 degrees F. As a result, I amassed a fairly large collection of over 180 pieces of glass.
So I decided to share them with the public by selling them. I opened up “Elliott Glass Art” which is an online business. I have a personal web site that you are welcome to visit, a Facebook page and this Etsy shop that I have created.
So as not to totally forget my previous career in molecular biology, I will be undertaking an effort to construct the DNA molecule in glass, and specifically a gene that I sequenced in my previous career. Of course, I will continue to make vessels of bigger and more elaborate quality, and I want very much, to share them all with you.
