Ceramic Pottery Berry Bowl with Leaf Saucer Pottery Colander English Porcelain Seafoam Green Glaze for Bowl Dark Green Glaze for Leaf Plate Food safe, dishwasher and microwave safe The bowl is approx 8″ x 8″ x 2 1/2″ The saucer is approx. 8″ x 9″ x 2″ Ready to Ship This porcelain bowl will hold your fragile berries and keep them from getting crushed. Rinse your berries, (or grapes or cherry tomatoes) then serve them on the table with the pretty leaf saucer. The leaf plate can do double duty as a cheese and cracker plate or a spoon rest. The berry bowl and leaf are made out of high fired porcelain, rolled out in a slab, then carved and imprinted and then put in a bowl shaped mold. Once the clay hardens up a bit I add the feet to the bowl and make the holes. Around the holes are sanded smooth so there’s no sharp edges. I’ve been involved with clay for as long as I can remember. My mother was a jewelry artist and an oil painter. During the summer she had access to clay, a wheel and a kiln at a wonderful rustic summer school of art in Michigan. So, to keep me out of trouble she got me started in my lifelong passion – ceramics.
I worked on and off with clay through school and then while raising my family. When my youngest started school, the time was ripe! I went back to the same art summer school that I started with decades before. That was over 20 years ago.
It took me a long time to find my voice in ceramics. I made bowls, mugs and vases that didn’t have any spark for me and looked like many other potters. After I became a Master Gardener and was working as a garden designer, I noticed how many people live in the green room behind their houses – their backyards. I thought why not bring a sense of the outdoors into my pottery.
Botanic2Ceramic was born.
Most of my listings here on Artizan Made link to my shop on Etsy where you will find beautiful original pottery for your home and your garden, all made of the highest quality of porcelain or white stoneware. Garden and nature has been a huge part of my life and I bring that influence into my ceramics. My handmade pottery is one-of-a-kind since each piece is made individually, one at a time.
My ceramics are meant to be used, loved and become a cherished part of your daily life.
I feel incredibly fortunate that I found ceramics (or it found me!). I love doing what I do and I hope it shows.
Botanic2Ceramic offers handcrafted functional art pottery and ceramics that are inspired by nature and by the Arts and Crafts Mission Style. Every piece is handmade by Sue Capillo in porcelain or white stoneware. She makes all of her own food safe glazes and high fires to cone 9, which makes the piece extremely durable for daily use.
