Arizona artist, Vicki Hedrick of Mariposa Handwovens, weaves beautiful scarves using luxury threads. Her business name, Mariposa, means butterfly in Spanish. She chose it after witnessing one emerge from its chrysallis and fly off into the new world.

“A self-taught weaver who began weaving well over 30 years ago, I use the finest yarns to produce shawls and scarves that are both beautiful and functional and so very comfortable to wear. Color excites me and I love exploring how they interact in the woven cloth.  Choice of weave structure and fiber type can produce dramatic differences and it is positively fun to see what develops as I weave!
When I am not weaving, I love to hike and go birding. The interest in the natural world that evolved from these activities has become a major influence in my color choices and in my attempts to re-create nature’s textures through the weave structures I choose.”
