We are celebrating Thanksgiving in the US today and Artizan Made sends all of you a wish for happiness and joy! One of the things that makes our group of shops so special is that we come from many different countries. All of us have a deep love for the handmade process and have each found a way to express that through what we do. When you share a common interest like this, the other things that often divide so many people become small and unimportant. Instead, we find that we are not all that different from one another after all!
In thinking about this, I thought of John Lennon’s song, Imagine, and chose it as a good way to celebrate Thanksgiving! Most of us have so much to be thankful for, but we do live in a troubled world with big problems. The handmade process is one of creativity and imagination… Music also brings us together and Play for Change is an organization that envisions a world where we can come together and celebrate our differences but live in peace. Here is their rendition of Lennon’s Imagine:

Barbara gives thanks: “I am so grateful that I am able to have a business that promotes ideals close to my heart and allows me to work with my oldest daughter as a partner. I appreciate the support and help of all of my daughters especially my youngest who often models for us, gives design input and critiques. I am truly blessed to have a business working with my daughters and helping other women keep their families together. It is truly a dream job.”
Bryan gives thanks: “I always stare in wonder at the beauty I find in wood…….. I’m thankful that God hid such wonderful treasures in trees. I’m even more thankful that He gave me the will and desire to find them and the skill to set them free to share with all the world!”
Debra gives thanks: “I assembled this art scarf with bits of fabric, treasures and some painted iconography of Frida Kahlo. I admire the strength she gathered from the women she chose as friends and mentors… such as noted photographer Tina Modotti, and painter Georgia O’Keefe. I am so thankful for my supportive and inspiring friendships with women.”
Dennis gives thanks: “I am thankful for my family, my health and for the ability to collect and curate unique and beautiful cultural art/artifact collections from around the world, so that I might pass them along to the next individual who loves the pieces as much as I do.”
Karen gives thanks: “I’m thankful for my health and that I have the time to create my happy pottery and that I can share a bit of happiness with you.”
Lina Sofia gives thanks: “I am thankful for a year full of new and creative paths! I used to be only in the academic world, but now I am also in a world full of colors and beautiful handmade objects. There are no limits for creating unique objects and I am thankful for that!”
Leslie Allen gives thanks: “I am thankful for the night sky.”
From all of us at Artizan Made, we wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving! We should be thankful every day, anywhere in the world, right?
